Our Story

It all began with a trip to Lebanon in 2014. Two Fort Worth Christian men looking for ministry opportunities stumbled upon a children's shelter in need of repair, staffing, cleaning, and food. The children were hungry, cold, and illiterate. Seeing their condition left the men speechless, but more importantly, it led them to action. They returned to Fort Worth and began telling others about what they had encountered. With God’s help, conversations produced actions, and actions produced results. Funds were raised to make repairs to the facility, provide healthy meals, and supply the children with clothing. In addition, an annual mission trip was begun. These trips bring supplies and encouragement to the staff and children. More importantly, the children are being taught the good news of Jesus. Every summer our U.S. team travels to Lebanon and holds VBS activities for these children as well as others of a marginalized status.

In order to educate these children, The Hope Academy was founded in 2016. The academy accelerated programs to teach languages and other basic skills. In order to address the children’s educational deficiencies, the Academy partners with SK!LD, a local ministry specializing in teaching children with learning differences. Spiritual growth is fostered by regular chapel services. In collaboration with Youth for Christ, The Jonah Project has forged a meaningful partnership to deliver consistent vocational training to the senior children the of Home of Hope. This initiative aims to equip them with essential skills, such as carpentry, culinary arts, and cosmetology, as they approach the transition to independence at 18 years old. By instilling practical expertise, we empower these young individuals to step into the world beyond Home of Hope with a vocation, enabling them to earn a livelihood in their environments, embodying Christ's values in a challenging Lebanese environment that works against them.

While Lebanon grapples with the challenges of being a failed nation, particularly in meeting the basic humanitarian needs of its street children, The Jonah Project remains a beacon of Hope. In the face of widespread evacuation by long-standing Christians seeking a better life in the West, there are inspiring Christians who choose to stay and carry out the mission in Lebanon. These resilient missionaries, supported by The Jonah Project, are making a profound impact on the lives of the children at the Home of Hope and beyond. Despite the harsh living conditions, the spirit of these missionaries perseveres. Discipleship and church planting efforts in Lebanon not only endure but thrive amidst adversity. The hands and feet of Jesus find boundless opportunities in this challenging landscape. The needs may persist, but so does the unwavering commitment to make a positive difference for Jesus. Consider joining us on a transformative trip to Lebanon next summer and be part of this journey of hope and resilience!
